Agriemach | Supporting Clean Air & Healthy Living
Power is something our population will continue to demand for ever more. How this power is generated will continue to change; but for now, we are still burning fossil fuels. While we continue to do this, Agriemach cannot solve all of the emissions issues globally, but what we can do is make a difference working with our customers and continue to engineer solutions from Power Generating Plant to construction machinery exhaust gas after-treatment. In the meantime and as well as Exhaust Gas Emissions Cleaning; Agriemach have donated air purification systems for each room of a local school, using HEPA14 medical grade filter media, along with sponsoring and supporting a local youth football team, purchasing a brand new full kit for the current season. Where we can, we want to promote clean air and certainly help with our following generations by keeping air clean in school and helping promote healthy activities such as football - working as a team – being considerate - enjoying life. NOxMASTER™ SCR | Environment Agency | Battersea Power Station
Talk is cheap. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. When I see it, I will believe it!! Well; this is exactly why we endlessly sign off with offering all of our prospective clients the opportunity to visit one of our various live sites in the UK, operational with our NOxMASTER™ Selective Catalytic Reduction Systems. On the 13th October 2022 - The day before the Grand Opening of Battersea Power Station – Agriemach had the pleasure of conducting a tour of the energy centre to a select group from both the Environment Agency and DEFRA; showcasing this live energy centre and NOxMASTER™ SCR System in full operation. Our NOxMASTER™ SCR Systems are reducing the NOx from 2x Jenbacher 612 2004kWel Natural Gas CHP`s operating at variable load based on the network demand for heat. The exhaust gas leaves the engine and enters the primary silencer fitted with Hoerbiger explosion relief valve, it then enters our mixing section where we first measure the RAW NOx Emissions. We then have fine control over the injection and atomisation of AdBlue into the exhaust stream which passes through our two stage static mixers, prior to expansion over the catalyst. The outlet of our SCR reactor then measures the treated NOx to ensure we are in line with permit conditions. After this, the heat is recovered from the exhaust gas via the heat exchanger and then onto the secondary silencer. The flue then heads up the inside of one of the iconic Battersea Power Station Chimneys. Seeing is believing! Remote Tank Level Monitoring | Agriemach Ltd
Did you know that Agriemach monitor Fuel, Oil and AdBlue storage tanks all over the UK for customers? Our remote telemetry system enables us to monitor tank levels which allows us to capture usage data, arrange refilling deliveries and monitor Rapid Drop Detection. Our system works both on a desktop and also mobile app interface for ease of notification at all times – day and night. Why do our customers want us to monitor their tanks? Quite simply, so they don’t have to! We provide “unmanned” delivery training for our regular delivery drivers; so that unmanned sites can receive deliveries without other operatives being needed onsite. Diesel Generators | 2.4MWe | NOxMASTER™ SCR
Four full trucks of NOxMASTER™ SCR Systems rolled out of our production facility last week after quality checks were concluded and signed off. Seven 2.4MWe systems are destined for site where they will reduce the NOx emissions by 98% and provide integrated silencing functionality down to 80dB(A)@1m. What are NOx Emissions and how do they affect us? Short-term exposure to concentrations of NO2 can cause inflammation of the airways and increase susceptibility to respiratory infections and to allergens. NO2 can exacerbate the symptoms of those already suffering from lung or heart conditions. In addition, NOx can cause changes to the environment. Deposition of Nitrogen to the environment both directly as a gas (dry deposition) and in precipitation (wet deposition) can change soil chemistry and affect biodiversity in sensitive habitats. Nitrogen oxides are also precursors for the formation of ozone. Ozone is a gas which is also damaging to human health and can trigger inflammation of the respiratory tract, eyes, nose and throat as well as asthma attacks. Moreover, ozone can have adverse effects on the environment through oxidative damage to vegetation including crops. Where can I learn more? Here we have an example design showing that not only does Agriemach offer high efficiency NOx reduction systems for stationary engines; but our projects team also offer many ancillary items to provide a “One Stop Shop” to enable a complete and comprehensive solution to both new and retrofit installations. NOxMASTER™ SCR Dosing System Upgrade | Natural Gas CHP
“Out with the old, in with the new!” exclaimed our customer, when it was established that the SCR system which was purchased some years ago from an overseas supplier - simply did not work! The Agriemach emissions team were invited to a London energy centre to solve the challenges our customer was facing. An SCR system their projects team purchased from overseas which had no visualisation; no screen; no real way to establish what the SCR System was doing – other than it was constantly in fault. This was of course preventing the CHP from running, as the client needed their emissions to be in line with their permit conditions for grid linked power generation. In addition to these issues, the AdBlue tank was also far too small for the application – completely undersized and not fit for purpose. The challenge here is that the energy centre is basement (Level -2) which certainly does not allow for storage tanks to be delivered in one piece, when the only access point is a stairwell! The “brief” was clear – the solution was discussed, agreed and implemented. Agriemach removed the old SCR dosing system and installed a new NOxMASTER™ SCR Dosing Systems with full touchscreen visualisation for both RAW & Treated NOx Emissions, Backpressure, Exhaust Gas Temperature & Dosing Load – all Data Logged, along with BMS Modbus connectivity for ease of emissions reporting. The emissions team also installed a 4000 litre AdBlue suitable, sectional tank with remote tank level telemetry. This additional capacity increases the time between AdBlue tanker deliveries in this built up area of London which also has the added benefit of reducing the “per litre” consumable cost. Commissioning saw the NOx target achieved on the first pass; enabling this CHP to synchronise with grid and generate power well within its permit conditions! Not only that; they now have UK based support to ensure that the system is maintained correctly and ensuring continual uptime. A very happy customer. NOxMASTER™ SCR | Bespoke Engineered Solutions
When retrofitting or planning a new installation of exhaust gas after treatment systems, space is almost always at a premium. NOxMASTER™ SCR Systems | MTU 18V2000 1MWe
More of our NOxMASTER™ Selective Catalytic Reduction Systems coming online this week, reducing emissions from this pair of 1MWe MTU 18V2000 Diesel Generators. Reducing harmful emissions and helping keep the air we breathe as clean as possible is our ongoing goal. Our client required these MTU Diesel generators to comply with the Medium Combustion Plant Directive in order to meet their permit conditions for power generation. Agriemach engineered a solution to bring their NOx emissions down to 190mg/Nm3@15%O2 along with integrated silencing functionality down to 85dB(A)@1m. This engineered solution was also designed as “plug and play” meaning that site installation time was kept fully optimised and at a minimum. NOxMASTER™ SCR Systems | 2145 kWm Cummins QSK60-G8
Last Monday saw the customer inspection and pre-delivery approval for this pair of Silencer Integrated NOxMASTER™ SCR systems. One week later the systems are on site and being lifted in to position ready for final connection, installation and commissioning. These 2145 kWm Diesel generators are being fitted with our NOxMASTER™ Silenced SCR systems to reduce NOx and include silencing functionality down to 70 dB(A)@1m. The Agriemach Emissions Team were asked to design a solution to meet the customer’s requirements and ensure that the engineered solution would fit within the space provided. Automated AdBlue™ Deliveries | Agriemach Service
Agriemach offer a comprehensive service of monitoring and delivering AdBlue™ straight to site for our customers. Site operatives no longer need to keep check of tank levels as this is all carried out for them via the Agriemach Automated Telemetry System. This enables our transport team to schedule tanker deliveries to site, to ensure that the AdBlue™ supply never runs out and the NOx Reduction System has the reductant it needs for reducing NOx levels in accordance with permit conditions. NOxMASTER™ SCR Systems | Millbrook Proving Ground
Another pair of NOxMASTER™ Selective Catalytic Reduction Systems have been successfully commissioned for these Mitsubishi S12R-PTA Diesel Engines operating at Millbrook Proving Ground at their Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Battery Testing facility. These 1.1MWe Diesel Generators now meet their permit conditions for NOx, bringing them down from 1790 mg/Nm3@15%O2 to under 190 mg/Nm3@15%O2 – a 90% reduction of NOx emissions. The test facility conducts hybrid and electric (EV) battery testing to assess the life of battery cells, modules and packs; determine battery safety in a wide range of situations including crash events; and validate the performance of automotive batteries under a range of environmental conditions. The Agriemach projects team were fascinated by the experience of Millbrook and the incredible activity around the site. An exciting project to be part of.
